Annnnnnddddd it’s Friday!
I feel like the time between these posts is getting shorter and shorter. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays upon us, it seems like we’re racing towards the end of 2015 (whaaaaattt?)
Okay. This is a reminder that it is still, in fact, November, and we’ve got a great rest of a year ahead of us. Let’s take a moment, shall we?
One. Last night I spent a wonderful evening at a special preview of the brand new Warby Parker in Edgehill Village. Beyond excited that one of my favorite companies has decided to set down roots in Nashville. Stylish glasses, amazing people, awesome cause. Pay them a visit, because I’ll totally come with you and convince myself that I need another pair.
Two. My mind hasn’t been able to stop thinking about Antonie Leiris, who lost his wife and mother to his young son in the Paris attacks last week. He wrote a letter to the perpetrators in a show of utmost defiance:
“So no, I will not give you the satisfaction of hating you. You want it, but to respond to hatred with anger would be to give in to the same ignorance that made you what you are…
You would like me to be scared, for me to look at my fellow citizens with a suspicious eye, for me to sacrifice my liberty for my security. You have lost.”
In a world that is still reeling from loss, fear, and anxiety, his message is so powerful. Hate and fear can only win if we let them. Prayers for all those affected by acts of violence and terrorism around the world. You will not have our hatred.
Three. This verse from 1 Peter has been really important to me this week:
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” —1 Peter 5:10
Four. Stay tuned for a post about the awesome photoshoot I had with Evan Davies this past weekend. He’s insanely talented and I’m looking forward to sharing the beautiful pictures and the stories behind them. And if you didn’t believe me when I said he was insanely talented…ahem.
Five. CAN WE TALK ABOUT CATCHING FIRE PART TWO. Honestly, I don’t know if I’m ready to talk yet. I had every feel in the history of feels. And thus ends yet another significant book series in my young adult life (still thinking about you, Harry Potter).
Hey. It’s the weekend. Everything’s going to be great. Go forth and be awesome!
