There’s something about the beauty of a new day that just makes me want tosmile. It doesn’t matter if the weatherman’s predicting rain, that my agenda’s jam-packed with activities, or that I stayed in bed a little too long—there’s a certain kind of magic in the newness that makes me feel like anything is possible.
I’ve developed a little morning routine that gets me in the best mindset for my day. Setting my top goals for the day, my mantra that I want to focus on, and looking over projects help me get focused. These little things help me feel like no matter what happens, it’s going to be a good day. Breakfast is central to this morning routine. No matter how late I am running, I will never skip breakfast, even if it means sacrificing brushing my hair or swiping on mascara. Nobody wants to see hangry Jen, so having the right fuel is very necessary. I’ll usually opt for something quick, like eggs or toast.If I want to have a really good day, I’ll treat myself. I’ve devised a delicious breakfast recipe thanks to the sweetness of Born Sweet™ Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener. It’s made of all-natural stevia extract and adds sweetness without any calories! I decided to pair it with the natural sweet-tartness of Honeycrisp apples, the crunch of almonds, and the heartiness of oatmeal.
This breakfast only seems indulgent, but it comes together pretty quickly. Instead of baking the apples, I toasted my apples and almonds in a skillet to make the apples tender and bring out the flavors of the almonds.In the meantime, I prepared the oatmeal my favorite way—with plenty of cinnamon, nutmeg, and milk. Adding a pinch of Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener provided the perfect amount of sweetness…and, there we have it.

Cinnamon Apple Almond Oatmeal
2 tbs. almonds (slivered or crushed)
1/2 apple (I used Honeycrisp)
1/2 cup oatmeal or other porridge
1 cup water
1/2 cup milk or milk equivalent
Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener to taste
Prepare oatmeal with water according to directions. Meanwhile, toast almonds and apples until apples are tender and almonds are fragrant. Stir in sweetener, nutmeg, cinnamon and milk to oatmeal. Top with almonds and apples and serve warm.
