Hi friends!

Sorry that I’ve been rather MIA from the blog world—the real world has gotten to me just a little too much! In the midst of our Homecoming Week and tests and getting a new car {whaaat?} and root canals {bad}, it’s been a lot to keep track of. I’ve found myself doing the “easiest” things on my resolution list, and one of them was watching a scary movie. It couldn’t be that hard, right?

My friend Dan and I watched The Conjuring.

Let me preface that statement with this: I don’t do scary movies. The only scary movies that I’ve halfway watched {as in, I covered my face half the time} are the Paranormal Activity series. This one was supposed to be SUPER scary, because it’s based off of a true story.

Let’s be honest. I was scared. I kept asking Dan when scary parts were coming up and I will NEVER play “Hide and Clap”—ever. But it got me thinking…and so I present to you eleven things I find scarier than “The Conjuring.” Read at your own risk.

1. Losing your keys.

It’s a cold, dark October night. You’re walking to your apartment, your breath picking up with your quickened pace. You start to search your purse for your access to entry and…you can’t find them. They could be anywhere, but they’re not here with you right now, in the moment that you need them most. You stand petrified, unable to comprehend how life will continue from here.

2. Making awkward eye contact.
A

There is nothing more terrifying to some than human interaction. That moment when you see someone who acts like they know you, but you can’t remember a thing about them. That really cute guy that caught you casually staring at his facial hair. It’s moments like these that make even the strongest of us weak at the knees.

3. Checking your bank account.

A

Strikes fear into the heart of every broke college student out there.

4. Being a college student with an irrelevant major.

A

Forget searching for demons in some dark basement somewhere—I’m scared of even trying to look for a job after graduation.

5. Forgetting to put take your laundry out of the dryer.

A

You’re about to get into bed when you realize all too late that your clothes are currently being held hostage in the laundry room somewhere in the Dickens basement. Who knows what could have happened to the poor things while you were away? However, if you’re like the college student above, this could be a blessing in disguise.

6. Being completely over {or under!} dressed for a party.

A

You’ve stuffed yourself into that skirt from seventh grade that you really should have given up on, and those heels that you know are going to make you miserable. But it doesn’t matter. You are going to look HOT for that party tonight. You gasp in terror as you open the door and see everybody else wearing…jeans?

7. Being asked to show off your non-existent dance moves.

A

You know that moment. It’s the middle of a dance party, and everyone’s having a reasonable time, when suddenly some genius decides that it’s time to circle up and have a dance-off. Obviously they’re first, rocking it like Queen Bey. You’re content standing around and watching, when you feel a hand on the small of your back, pushing you forward. Now all eyes are on you, and you can’t escape until you embarrass yourself.

8. Oversleeping.

A

You “forgot” to set your alarm and now it’s 8:30 AND YOU’VE MISSED YOUR 8 AM CLASS FOUR TIMES ALREADY AND YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TIME TO LOOK CUTE SO YOU RUN TO CLASS IN YOUR PAJAMAS AND REALIZE YOU LEFT YOUR BACKPACK IN YOUR APARTMENT. Dead.

9. Forgetting an important date.

A

“Oh, your birthday was last week, Mom?”

10. Having to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

A

I swear, that experience will mess you up like none other.

11. Realizing that you only have two more years left of college.

A

Literally, where has the time gone? Call this the Twilight Zone cause I’m TOTALLY confused on how all that happened.

So if you ever find yourself terrified at the thought of the undead or the paranormal, remind yourself that real life is often a LOT more scary.

Sorry if that wasn’t helpful! Stay blessed…and scared. Scarily blessed? Blessedly scared? I’m going to go now.

xoxo,
