Hey there! So with summer just around the bend, I found that my spring wardrobe needed a little bit of updating for the warmer weather. And since I love lists, here are seven super ways to update your look for summer!

1. High Waisted Shorts. I am so glad these are back in. Not only are they adorable but they’re a throwback to the days where your biggest care in the world was whether or not the ice cream man was going to pass by your house. NastyGal makes these shorts extra-cute with the scalloped bottoms.

2. A mini-backpack. Sometimes carrying a purse around just gets too cumbersome, especially when going from picnics to the beach and back again. A mini-backpack is just enough to hold your essentials, which for me include my current summer read {The Fault in Our Stars by John Green}, a water bottle, and some bright lipstick. I found one similar to this at Icing and am in love!

3. Denim, denim, denim. It’s everywhere. It’s summer. Whether it’s a shirt, vest, or even a dress, find something you love and rock that summertime blue. I’m loving this one from Forever 21, which makes use of the next item on our list…

4. Love that lace. Lace is another trend that is perfect for summer. If denim adds the casual, tomboyish look, lace reminds us of having iced tea on the lawn as a butler fans us and an orchestra plays gently in the background {okay, maybe that’s a little too far.} But dress it up or down, lace is a perfect addition to your summer closet. I got this maxi dress at Target for $30 and am so excited to pair it with, well, anything!

5. Cute sandals. It’s time for our feet to come out of hiding from boots, tennis shoes, and anything close-toed. I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of sandals and think I found it with Steve Madden’s Madden Girl collection. Aren’t these adorable?

6. Beach sandals. I had to make this a different category simply because I’m obsessed with the barefoot sandals trend. I haven’t gotten myself a pair yet but you can bet I’ll be rocking something like these as soon as it’s warm enough to hit the beach!

7. Summer shades. This is probably the hardest one for me. I have a really small face so I tend to not wear glasses because I feel like I’m drowning in them. But I don’t know…there are so many cute ones out there, like these heart-shaped aviators, that I just might have to reconsider.

So there you have it! My top seven items to update any summer wardrobe. What will you be wearing this summer?

Peace, love, and blessings,
